Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Place the shaped dough in a greased loaf pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let it cool before slicing.

  • For a crustier bread, place a pan of water in the oven while baking.
