French Onion Orzo Bake

A creamy and comforting dish featuring orzo, turkey bacon, and caramelized onions.

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 6 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 cup shredded cheese, preferably Gruyère
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and crumble.
  3. Add the sliced onions to the skillet and caramelize over medium heat.
  4. In a pot, combine chicken broth and orzo; bring to a simmer.
  5. Once the orzo is cooked, mix in the heavy cream, thyme, and crumbled turkey bacon.
  6. Add the caramelized onions and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Transfer everything to a baking dish, top with shredded cheese, and bake for 20 minutes.

Notes
