Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls

A comforting dish that combines all the flavors of traditional cabbage rolls without the hassle of rolling each one.

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage by removing the core and boiling the leaves until softened.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with onions and garlic.
  3. Mix cooked rice, tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture.
  4. Layer the cabbage leaves in the slow cooker, adding the beef mixture on top.
  5. Continue layering until all ingredients are used.
  6. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a dash of hot sauce to the mixture.
  • Feel free to substitute turkey or chicken for the beef.
